Filing a police report...what should you know?

What should I do after an accident in TX?

You have two choices when filing a report in Texas, either file a report with the responding officer at the scene of the accident, or you can file with the Texas DOT after the accident if there are no injuries, fatalities or property damage.

Write down the police report number and make sure to see if the responding officer submitted the crash report to the Texas DOT within 10 days of the accident.

IF you don't file a police report, make sure you're still collect witness statements and take pictures of the accident scene before leaving.
