Child Custody

Meet Yianna, she's the newest edition to the Ashmore family, and a great attorney to boot.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Yianna as a part of our ongoing education about family law- and what our different attorneys love the most about their jobs! Here's what she had to say!

  • What are you passionate about?

Family law. Specifically child custody matters. I love being able to find customized solutions to complex situations.

  • What are your specialties:

Finding customized solutions to complex situations. No family is the same and no divorce or child custody dispute should be treated the same.

  • What makes you the rockstar mom attorney that you are:

As a child that was the subject of a complex divorce and having gone through the Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship myself, I have first hand world knowledge on the affect the legal process has on both the parents, and the child/children. Having that first-hand world knowledge allows me to utilize that to earn my clients trust, respect and undivided faith that I will leave no stone unturned in insuring their rights, duties and privileges are protected while acting in the best interest of the child.

I was 19 years old when I found myself in front of a Judge and was awarded 50/50 custody of my then eighteen month old son. I was so scared. My lawyer treated as if I were just another cause number and not a human. He was extremely difficult to get in touch with and it gave me a really bad taste for lawyers. I knew I never wanted to feel like that again.

I knew I wanted to be a different lawyer than what I had. It is an honor to know my clients by name, not their cause number. I take pride in truly knowing their stories and being there for them every step of the way.

  • What the process looks like for you when you first meet a new client:

When I first meet a new client, I am quick to gain their trust. In this type of work, attorney-client relationships and building trust is the absolute most crucial part to have a solid foundation in so that your client is comfortable and willing to tell you everything, even the bad stuff. This is important because as your attorney, I need to know before hand what the other side may, can, and or will likely use against you. Our first meeting, I get to ask my clients questions they didn’t even know they needed to be asked in order to find the legal issues they did not even know existed.

Thanks Yianna for taking the time to answer our questions, it was a pleasure hearing all that you love about practicing law.
